Josh Muir is an award winning Gunditjamara / Yorta Yorta Visual artist working in Victoria. Drawing from contemporary street art as a modern way of expressing stories through vibrant and graphic work, Josh is inspired by its colour contrasts and place in the public arena. Exhibiting in Melbourne's White Night Festival with 'Still Here' and winner of the Telstra Youth Award, Muir's work is has a strong connection to his culture.
As part of Aboriginal Projects at Craft, Josh Muir was approached to create a design for an artist series of socks made in Australia. 'Winged Dingo' is the result of this work.
"The dingo was a prominent part of the natural environment in Victoria at one stage in time, unfortunately they were hunted and obliterated in the south of Australia. The dingo represents a similar feeling I experience day to day and that is we should all feel free enough to live in our communities with no fear and happiness, to let our voices be heard."
