Lou Weis is the founder of Broached Commissions, the former director of the Melbourne Design Week (2010) and a creative director whose work has been commissioned by international festivals, councils and museums. Lou has been working in the creative industries since graduating from the University of Melbourne in 1996 and has been creating large scale public art since being commissioned to create the feature outdoor artwork for the Melbourne Festival (now known as the Rising festival) in 2000.

Broached is focused on creating applied arts collections that reflect on how design works to reinforce and promote systems of power; governmental, corporate or religious power all requires design to beautify its message. Broached reflects upon how these power dynamics work and expresses it in form. For clients, the Broached team create contextual responses to property development sites and commission public artworks that are site specific.
