Alexandra Groves is a recent graduate of the Bachelor of Textiles (Design)(Honours) program at RMIT University. Throughout her studies, she engaged in various projects spanning the fields of knit, print, weave, and mixed media, crafting outcomes for fashion, art, and the home. Currently focused on knitwear design, Alexandra navigates the intersection between textiles and fashion. Her practice is motivated by a desire to create future heirlooms—pieces that withstand the test of time. Through her work, she explores ideas of sentimentality and attachment to objects, investigating ways in which design can establish more meaningful and enduring connections to our material world. Taking a technique-driven approach, Alexandra finds particular joy in extensive experimentation and textile development. Her work reflects this profound fascination with materials, giving a unique quality to her creations.
