Dennis Golding (Kamilaroi/Gamilaraay/Biripi)

Dennis Golding is an artist born and raised on Gadigal Country, with ancestral ties to Kamilaroi/Gamilaraay Country (Northwest NSW) and Biripi Country (Mid North Coast NSW). His practice critiques social, political and cultural representations of race and identity, rooted in lived experience and childhood memory.

Working across painting, photography, sculpture and installation, Dennis is drawn to objects as carriers of story, letting the histories held within them shape his choice of medium and form. He draws on his urban upbringing in Sydney, particularly the inner-city Aboriginal community of Redfern. His practice is deeply relational, through community engagements in public art commissions, studio and exhibition practice, and curatorial work, with identity and self-determination at its core.
