Indigo Stuart

Indigo Stuart is a Naarm/Melbourne based fashion designer whose work bridges heritage and innovation. Rooted in craftsmanship, her practice explores how the craft of weaving can create emotionally durable garments that embody memory, identity, and sentiment. While studying at the Swedish School of Textiles in Borås, Sweden, she honed her weaving skills, inspiring a design philosophy that transforms everyday garments into cherished heirlooms.

A recipient of the Australian Fashion Foundation Scholarship and the Australian Wool Education Trust, Stuart's work questions the cultural and emotional value of clothing, challenging conventional design practices and fostering meaningful connections between people and their garments.

Stuart holds a Bachelor of Fashion (Design) (Honours) from RMIT University (2024).

Through the use of the tartan and a dedication to craftsmanship, each piece encourages wearers to form a deeper connection to their clothing, fostering care, repair, and enduring attachment.
