Laura Deakin Coral Covey Jewellery

Laura Deakin was born in Melbourne in 1979. She began her academic career in photography, but transitioned to the discipline of contemporary jewellery in her early twenties. In 2003, she completed a BFA with Honours at Monash University, Melbourne and in 2010, she was awarded her MFA from The Academy of Fine Art in Munich.

She has given workshops and lectures in Europe, USA and Australia. In 2021 & 2022 Deakin designed and delivered the Blak Design Program in collaboration with Blanche Tilden for indigenous Victorians. She also runs the successful jewellery brand, Coral Covey Jewellery, creating bespoke one-of-a-kind items of precious jewellery.

Deakin’s work can be seen in permanent collections at The Museum of Modern Art & Design in Munich, Gallery Marzee, The Netherlands & NVG, Melbourne. She has been accepted into the prestigious exhibition 'Schmuck' on four occasions, including for her most recent body of work, Mygration, Yourgration, Ourgration.
