Lisa Waup is a mixed-cultural First Nations artist and curator, born in Narrm (Melbourne), and Italian heritage. Her multidisciplinary practice spans weaving, experimental printmaking, photography, sculpture, fashion, body adornment and digital art. With a deep connection to the symbolic power of materials, her work reflects her personal experiences, family history, Country and broader historical narratives.
Lisa has exhibited extensively, with solo exhibitions at Kluge-Ruhe, Virginia, USA (2024), Australian Print Workshop - Dowd Foundation Fellowship, Narrm (2024), Linden New Art Gallery, Narrm (2019), ReDot Gallery, Singapore (2018), and the Koorie Heritage Trust, Narrm (2012). She currently is exhibiting at Contemporary Indigenous Australian Art & Design in Paris, France, and touring exhibitions Current, New Exuberance: Contemporary Australian Textile Design, Deep Material Energy III (2023-2025) and Piinpi: Contemporary Indigenous Fashion.
Her work is held in numerous public and private collections across Australia and internationally. Lisa is currently a lecturer at the Victorian College of the Arts in the Drawing and Printmaking Department at the University of Melbourne.
