Mariana Blanco (b.1990) (she/her) is a Spanish artist based in Naarm/Melbourne. Formally educated in Fine Arts in Madrid, Spain and Nîmes, France. Jewellery became her preferred medium to express her thoughts and memories. In her eyes, the unique relationship that jewels have to the human body and their capacity to carry their time’s identity provide a platform for art that suits our nomadic age. Among the artists’ preoccupations are the feminine experience, the spaces we inhabit, and how technology/digital reshapes perception. Can digital become precious? Is technology a friend or a foe?
