Born in Tehran-Iran, Maryam grew up in a house where she was always surprised by her Mum’s craft and design and learned early on her how to be different with creation. Maryam got her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Industrial design while also developing a painting practice and participating in several exhibitions around the world. Furthering her practice, Maryam decided to explore the sculptural medium as a tool for storytelling. Drawn to irregular approaches to scale, Maryam knows herself as a sculptress who makes a sculpture for a neck, not a desk. In 2015 her first jewellery collection was made of bronze with abstract forms, after which Maryam has began exploring other other materials including wood and paper pulp. Maryam's works are culminations of years of trial and error and brimming with passion.
