Quietly Flowing Meagan Streader

aluminium, powder coat, LED lighting, electrical components

Meagan Streader is a Naarm/Melbourne-based artist that works with light as a medium in her site-specific sculpture and installation practice.

Quietly Flowing is a multi-dimensional light installation that weaves its way through the grand concrete columns of Home Docklands’ southern façade. Minimal and sophisticated in its form, the artwork reflects the rhythm and flow of the nearby Birrarung (Yarra River) and surrounding waterways. This dynamic work responds to the architecture of the site and the local environment, both constant and ever-changing. Through its ambient and welcoming warmth, Quietly Flowing lights the space beneath as a place of gathering and connection, fostering a sense of community and well-being under its subtle glow.

Collaborating with Craft on this public art project was a rewarding and dynamic experience. Through this work, I aim to challenge and inspire individuals to reimagine their connection to the built environment, light, and architecture, while fostering ongoing dialogue about the role of light in shaping our shared consciousness and public spaces.
