Studio Nika is the practice of Melbourne-based product designer Nika Biggs, working across furniture and objects. Informed by a background in architecture, yacht design, luxury interiors and furniture, the practice explores the space between the familiar and the unexpected.
Drawing on the contrasting textures of urban environments and the quiet presence of nature, Studio Nika creates tactile objects that balance industrial and organic, rough and refined, playful and restrained. Materiality, adaptability and considered use of resources underpin the work, with an emphasis on accessible objects that invite interaction and evolve through use. The practice is interested in creating pieces that feel both contemporary and strangely familiar, objects to be lived with rather than simply possessed.
