Nova Star Femme Fibre

Based in Naarm, Nova Star is an interdisciplinary artist and textile designer whose practice preserves and reimagines traditional textile knowledge through experimental weaving, machine knitting and sculptural textile construction. Her work explores femininity, identity and domestic craft, creating tactile works that blur the boundaries between garment, sculpture and installation.

Working with reclaimed textiles, found yarns and zero-waste processes, Star investigates sustainability and the cultural value of handmade labour. A Bachelor of Textile Design graduate from RMIT University, she also completed a year-long placement at the Swedish School of Textiles and holds a Certificate IV in Textile Design Development and Production. Her work has been exhibited across Australia and Europe in both artistic and fashion contexts.

As founder and creative director of Femme Fibre, Star continues to champion slow, circular-making systems that challenge how textiles are produced, valued and consumed.

Driven by a love for textiles and a desire for change, my practice transforms existing materials through experimentation and intuition, honouring craft knowledge while imagining new ways of making.
