Samantha Seary(she/her) is a Naarm/Melbourne based multidisciplinary artist.
Seary’s practice focuses on the slow construction of textiles and soft sculptures. Her work is informed by research into beading and traditional weaving techniques, jewellery making and glass art. Seary’s work incorporates materials that provide reflection, high lustre, colour interaction, and transparency, often re-purposing discarded materials like glass and metal to create embellishments that appeal to the human senses of sight, sound and touch. Seary holds both a Certificate IV in Textile Design, Development and Production and an Advanced Diploma of Textile Design from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. Seary completed their studies in 2018 and their graduate work was selected to be showcased in Craft Victoria’s Fresh! 2019.
