A textile artist specialising in free machine embroidery, hand stitching and mending. My practice engages with the environment recreating images and shapes in my works in 2D and 3D form.
My work portrays my concerns on issues including the environment, climate change and asylum seekers. Textiles are perfect for expressing ideas using hand and machine stitching. My work has been exhibited in the United Kingdom and Australia.
Working with found materials the joy is the unexpected uses that can be found for them. I love this unpredictability and enjoy the inventiveness necessary to transform them. Materials contribute to the story and highlight a need to address the waste we produce. I use materials that are reclaimed, things with a history that have been discarded and end up in landfill.
My practice engages with the natural environment recreating the images and shapes in my embroidered works in two and three dimensional forms. I specialise in free machine embroidery, hand stitching and mending.
