Our Maker Membership with insurance is an affordable insurance solution designed to support makers, artists, designers, curators and art installers practicing throughout Australia. Craft is able to offer competitive premiums as they are obtained on behalf of our members rather than by individuals. Be part of the growing community of passionate makers and benefit from all the added benefits of being a Craft member.
Membership and insurance cover is valid for twelve months from the date of purchase. Membership is renewed annually via our auto-renewal subscription service.
We have been notified by our insurance broker Local Community Insurance Services (LCIS) that the insurer, QBE Insurance, will be increasing the policy premiums effective from 1 October 2023. The adjusted fees are as follows:
Maker Member + Insurance – annual fee from $300*
Basic cover: $300
- Add on – Use of Kilns : additional $120
- Add on – Use of Open Flame/Kilns: additional $140
These increases are industry wide, Craft and our peer organisations are continuing to advocate on our members' behalf for accessible and affordable insurance. For individuals working at heights between 5-15 metres there is no additional fee at this stage, however an excess of $1,500 will be incurred if you make a claim. Noting, if you undertake this activity you MUST declare this in the application form. PLEASE NOTE: Individuals who work at heights greater than 15 metres will no longer be eligible for this insurance policy cover. However if you do require this, please let Craft know and we can discuss options with our broker LCIS.
Height Definition: this is the height above the ground a person is standing (e.g. if working from a ladder, the rung the person is standing on).
*Current policies are not affected, these increases only apply if you are a new member or renewing member from 1 October 2023.
If you undertake both of these activities, please add only “Open flame” premium to your application. Once your application has been approved by Craft, you can ‘add to cart’ when purchasing your Membership.
It is important add the relevant premium to your Membership if you undertake any of these activities, otherwise this may impact you if there is a claim and your policy may be cancelled.
