JJ Search & The Possible Port is an installation comprising nautical objects and a book. The vitrine exhibition is an open letter, in response to the writings and fictional inventions of Portuguese philosopher, poet, Fernando Pessoa (1888-1935). Jon Jonathon Search: Naval Officer, Oceanographer and Maritime Explorer is an imagined, hybrid-heteronym. The objects displayed are the character's *personal belongings*. The book includes a brief character bio and a passage extracted from Fernando Pessoa's The Book of Disquiet (Published posthumously).

Drawing from literature, language and natural phenomena, Ellie Tessa Godworth weaves fragments of sound, light and gesture into spatial compositions; to open spaces of harmony, ambiguity and potential.

JJ Search & The Possible Port is presented as part of Craft Contemporary 2023 – our annual festival celebrating craft practice today.
