Home Docklands is the new site for five major artwork commissions by leading contemporary Australian artists, curated by Craft and commissioned by Home. Over two years in the making, Craft managed the development and delivery of this significant collection, including four large-scale public artworks and a site-specific lobby installation.
Underpinned by themes of renewal, discovery and water rhythms, the collection draws connections between the nearby Birrarung Marr (Yarra River), La Trobe Street and Marvel Stadium through creative and innovative responses to site. Enhancing the architecture and local surroundings, the artwork fosters deeper connections and conversations and supports creative and imaginative placemaking.
Embedded into a new residential development, Home Docklands, the art gives shape to the next generation of the Docklands precinct, expanding its place as a cultural destination. Docklands is one of Australia's largest urban renewal projects, and with support from the City of Melbourne and Development Victoria, these major commission champions Craft's world-leading expertise in supporting Australian art, craft and design production, and the vital role of art in building vibrant places to live.
