Plinth: An Ode to the Extinction of the Basic White Plinth is an innovative exhibition that seeks to explore and celebrate the demise of the traditional white plinth. By inviting seven Melbourne based designers with diverse backgrounds in materiality, this exhibition aims to challenge the conventional notions of display and provoke a dialogue around the changing dynamics of artistic presentation. The participating designers (Anne U, Caro Pattle, Charlie White, Drew Abrahamson, Fiona J Schoer, Max Copolov and Sean Brickhill) have been asked to create unique plinths that symbolize the death of the white plinth, encouraging visitors to question and reimagine the role of pedestals in contemporary art.
