Artists Anabelle Stonehouse and Nicola Knackstredt present their collaborative exhibition Studies in Soft Movement. The artists work in different mediums but share a common relationship to their materials: the exploration of softness and femininity with reference to folds and draping of fabric.
Both artists engage in a liminal space by using materials that are at once hard and soft, fragile and durable. The artists transform delicate details and fluid forms into repetitive sequences which in turn become bespoke small scale artworks. Having discovered each other’s work and shared aesthetic, the artists are now working together to replicate the gentle movement of fabric through porcelain and metal. Collaborative works will be assembled at Brunswick Street Gallery, alongside the artists' individual works.
