Join artist facilitator Nicky Tsekouras in a 4-week after school workshop series designed specifically for people aged 10 to 25.

This informative and practical workshop will teach participants the fundamental skills to up-cycle waste materials into usable everyday items.

Upcycle soft plastics and various paper types such as poster paper, cardboard, and discarded street posters to create unique art pieces. These will be showcased in an art exhibition in the Gallery of Young Art (GOYA) at Boroondara Youth launched in November as part of National Recycling Week. Participants will learn basic hand sewing, collaging and zero-waste planning skills and be encouraged to showcase their originality, sustainability, ingenuity, and creativity.

This workshop series is perfect for environmentally conscious young people looking to reduce waste, create something beautiful and engage with the community. At the end of the workshop series, participants will contribute to an exhibition showcasing their up-cycled art pieces.

Sign up for all 4 sessions or book into the individual workshops that suit you. All materials will be provided. The ‘Waste Up! workshop series’ is proudly presented by Boroondara Arts and Boroondara Youth as a part of the 'Make, Mend, Do: Crafting a circular economy' program. Sessions will be held Wednesdays on 4, 11, 18 and 25 October.
