We the Makers is the National Wool Museum’s major biennial program dedicated to supporting authentic design, material consciousness and sustainable, ethical practice. Aligned with the Geelong UNESCO City of Design designation, We the Makers champions the future of design and Geelong’s ongoing role in the wool, fibre and textile industries.

The Sustainable Fashion Prize challenges the next generation of fashion designers to create one original outfit that “represents their personal design aesthetic and showcases their commitment to sustainable fashion.” It is the only sustainable fashion prize offered in Australia for emerging designers with less than ten years of industry experience and is open to designers worldwide. We the Makers Sustainable Fashion Prize is a significant international competition and $10,000 acquisitive prize that will help establish the career of a talented designer.

On display are the 20 shortlisted entries from Australian and international emerging fashion designers: Jedda Bahloo, Samara Darling, Amy Forbes and Caitlin Mullaly, Baaqiy Ghazali, Jordan Gogos, Lazarus Gordon, Ruth Hadinjoto, Alicja Kuzmycz, Gakuki Ito, Jasmine-Skye Marinos, Lilli McKenzie, StevenJunil Park, Emily Rastas, REBORN by HoMie, Evie Rosa, Vida Straseviciute, Kate V M Sylvester, Carol Yang, Eliz Yusuf, and Canwen Zhao.
