“Anomaly, an exploration of materiality and waste" is an online exhibition of works exploring the concept of anomalousness - placing an object in an unexpected space and location.

The pieces form a response to Manchester Lane, Melbourne This laneway was known for its rich variety of fabric and soft goods warehouses in the latter half of the 19th century and today is one of Melbourne's many vibrant and celebrated laneways.

The artworks are small-scale and explore materiality including biomaterials, textile and found waste, and weaving. The waste, explored in the context of Manchester Lane is elevated to give it a new aesthetic.

The artists, Lis de Vries and Ingra Polic are both graduates of the RMIT Advanced Diploma in Textile Design and Development. Ingra explores materiality with a focus on biomaterials and 3D mixed media. Lis specialises in weaving and explores weaving with waste and creating shape and movement.
