Modern Times shines a spotlight on Dean Norton; one of Australia's most exciting emerging furniture designers.
Dean Norton creates handcrafted limited production work that is thoughtful, evocative and finished with utmost consideration to detail and aesthetics.
Through an exhibition and talk Dean Norton: Deeply Considered Design offers a deep insight into Norton's practice - showcasing his most exceptional designs from the Daylight and Daylight Forever lamps, Moodlum, and Containa series, alongside never-before-seen prototypes, sketches and studio elements presented within the exhibition space. The exhibition is complemented by a one-day only Designer Talk on Saturday October 8th, 10am where Dean - in conversation with Modern Times director, Amy Malin - will expand on his practice and the work presented in the exhibition.
In the five short years since Dean launched his own design studio, his work has captured the attention of the global design community and appreciators alike. His 'Containa' series was recently exhibited at Rossana Orlandi during Milan Design Week 2022, and his work has been shortlisted for numerous design awards, won the Vivid Emerging Designer Awards in 2021, and been acquired for the NGV permanent collection.
