R L Foote Design Studio welcomes you into their new concept studio. Located in Clifton Hill, the light-filled warehouse space has been converted by Ryan Foote into a cohesive and streamlined workshop for ceramic production downstairs, including custom areas such as the glazing station and the glaze laboratory. Upstairs offers the ceramic showroom, gallery space and private dining and wine room.
Ryan will provide you with a guided studio tour of this exciting space, discussing how he went about customising each area to make the ceramic handmaking process as efficient as possible. Ryan uses his experience as an artist and food event designer to forge new ways of designing and creating ceramics; customising tools and equipment and applying knowledge from other industries to his work.
The Open Studio will specifically showcase the glaze laboratory where Ryan and his team mix their own glaze formulas and where hours of R&D is carried out using the minerals and stains sourced worldwide to create the most unique and exciting finishes.
Ryan will talk guests through his creative process, which for him is also a very scientific process, and answer any questions. We are so excited to share this space and industry insider intel with craft patrons.
