Exploring Textile Narratives Commission

Project Type: Curation, Commissioning

Inspired by the rich history of the Flinders Lane rag trade, Craft curated two new textile artwork commissions by artist Anastasia La Fey and mixed-cultural First Nations artist and curator, Lisa Waup. The artworks serve as focal points in bringing together different business lines across the two levels of JLL’s new Melbourne office fit-out, fostering a sense of community where the team can come together to create and collaborate.

Working in close collaboration with JLL, Craft oversaw the project from concept to installation, with the outcome producing a texturally rich working environment that weaves together references from Melbourne’s diverse urban fabric.

In this artwork, each line represents a movement within the work; one element grounds, one connects to air, one to water, one to place and to people. These lines work in harmony, each portraying a singular element while encapsulating the profound nature of human connections that unify all the elements.
