11:00am - 11:30am / Megan Croydon of Waymbul Ceramics

Since beginning her practice, Megan has always used her ceramics practice to create an intentional space to move slowly and gently. In this virtual open studio, Megan will be showing the basic techniques to hand building such as pinch pots, coiling and slab rolling and will share how you can use this practice in (mostly) any space.

11:30am - 12:00pm / Simone Agius of simétrie

The signature simétrie design, the M Crescent Moon Bag, although clean and simple in its aesthetic, has many steps in its creation from cutting, embossing the logos, thinning the leather at the seams, attaching the zip, securing the rings, sewing the final stitching, edge finishing and creating the strap.

During this Virtual Open studio session, Simone will demonstrate a few of these processes, showcasing the handwork, skill and sometimes complex technique that is required to create the clean aesthetic, whilst ensuring function and durability is also prioritised to ensure versatility and longevity in people’s wardrobes.

This would also involve a small virtual tour of the atelier so that viewers can discover simétrie’s workshop set up.

12:00pm - 12:30pm / Aaron Billings

In his Virtual Open Studio, Aaron Billings will showcase some recently works, including a series of paintings about gay diggers, recently exhibited at Schoolhouse Studios as well as a big quilt made out of embroidery samplers recently exhibted at Incinerator Gallery and CASPA Gallery.

Aaron will also guide audiences through some comic narrative exercises, including character design and action and reaction story telling.

12:30pm - 1:00pm / Louise Marson

In this session, Louise will guide viewers through her Collingwood Yards studio, introducing them to her mosaic practice and sharing the creative processes and techniques behind a public commission work she is currently working on. Louise will also share her experience of living with a disability and how that informs her creative practice.
